The UNC-CH Libraries - the libraries include an Art Library, Music Library, Law Library, and on-line searchable catalogs - as well as links to other libraries.

Rare Book Collection at UNC - one of the leading collections in the Southeast. Their web site gives information on their varied collections, occasionally has exhibits, and gives a history of the collection.

Southern Folklife Collection at UNC - one of the largest archives of Southern tradition and is especially strong in its holdings of Southern music. Included are many examples of folksong, popular song, and folklore. Includes information in almost all media: sheet music, newspaper and magazine clippings, photos of artists, commercial recordings, field tapes, video tapes...and more! Through this site, you can access inventories and databases of the collections, look at the "photo gallery" and listen to some sound recordings.

Documenting the American South - a full-text database of primary resources on Southern history, literature and culture from the colonial period through the first decades of the 20th century. This site currently (Fall 1998) includes three digitization projects: slave narratives, first-person narratives, and Southern literature. A really cool site for anyone who is interested in reading about the South from people who actually lived here.

Southern Historical Collection and General Literary Manuscripts at UNC - has strong and diverse collections from the antebellum plantation, Civil War, and Reconstruction South. Holdings include letters from Southerners living abroad, journals and diaries of plantation owners (and slaves) and oral histories of Southern Mill workers. Interesting exhibits spanning many various time periods.
