The Congressional Art Competition

Don’t Forget !!!

* The 30 x 30 inch size requirement includes the frame! (This is a change from previous years.) Nothing larger will be accepted.  

* Students should provide a written explanation about their piece in order to help the judges understand the students’ thoughts and purposes in creating the particular art piece. The explanation (no longer than one page) should provide information that the student would want the judge to consider about his or her piece during the evaluation process.

* Entries cannot violate copyright law!  Any entry reproduced from an existing photograph, painting or any other work by another person will NOT be accepted. 
 
* Both teacher and student must sign the originality certification found on the Student Information / Release Form

* Art work will hang in the Cannon Building tunnel to the U. S. Capitol complex and must be suitable for ALL audiences.  Please be mindful of this when artwork is selected. 

* Artwork that will NOT be accepted to hang in the Cannon tunnel includes: 

  • sculpture

  • jewelry

  • ceramics

  • weaving/fabrics

  • stained glass

  • all 3D artwork

* Artwork from high school students in Orange County is due at the Orange County Arts Commission office by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2006.  Please bring entries to:
